Teaching Philosophy
I consider teaching an important component of my academic life; it is not an obligation or merely a complement to my research. In the classroom, I strive to teach my students the fundamentals of geology and other sciences while also helping them to develop strong critical thinking and writing skills.

Teaching Experience
Teaching Experience
I have taught all over the world, including in Thailand, the UK, Switzerland, and Peru. More than anything, I have learned that teaching is a reciprocal endeavor. Not only have I taught more than 2,000 students in some twenty years of teaching, but I also have learned a great deal from them. The experience of teaching has enriched significantly my career as an educator, geologist, and scientist in general. Teaching has improved my communication skills, the capacity to synthesize and explain difficult concepts in simple terms, and the ability to interact with other people. Most importantly, teaching has transformed me into a more open-minded person, and it has accelerated my process of critical scientific thinking.
